Annie Cordy, her real name Léonie Cooreman was born on 16 June 1928 in Laeken (Brussels city) in Belgium. She is a Belgian singer, magazine leader and actress (cinema, television and theatre) who has made the majority of her career in France.
Annie Cordy has recorded more than 700 songs, played in about ten musicals and operettas, about forty films, about thirty series and TV films, about ten plays, given nearly 10,000 galas. Very energetic and always in a good mood during her public appearances, she praises the merits of smiling, even if she sometimes plays more serious roles in cinema or for fictions on television.
Anoblished by the king of Belgians Albert II who made her baroness in 2004, she chose as her motto «Passion makes strength».
